Bible Passage : Psalm 126

Memory Verse;    "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:"May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels." For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will say, "Peace be within you."  Ps 122:6-8 NIV

Nigeria is going through tumultuous times politically, economically and socially! There is, as it were, a war of attrition going on! Agitations for self determination is going on. We have the IPOB; who are fighting for the actualization of the Biafra. The Niger Delta Avengers, who are attacking the economic base of the nation and have virtually shut down the oil production facilities of the nation.

There are the Fulani Herdsmen; who are running havoc all over the land, ostensibly in search of grazing land for their cattle, leaving a lot of destruction of lives and properties in their wake. There is also the sudden resurgence of Boko Haram. It seems therefore that the government is fighting many battles on all fronts.

This is therefore the greatest time in our lives, as citizens and saints, to pray for our country Nigeria. As David enjoined the people of Israel in the memory verse to pray for Jerusalem. I also enjoin us all to spend quality time each day to lift up our country before the throne of grace and pray for the peace of Nigeria. This is because, it is the peace and wellbeing of the country the we will find peace and security for our lives and properties. It is in her peace that we will be able to thrive and prosper. This is not the time to take sides, either politically or otherwise. This is the time to intercede so that our God will return to us and turn back our captivity.

Shall we then pray?

Prayer Points
Thank the Lord for how far He has brought us a nation and the deliverances He had wrought in our lives in the past. Recall and thank Him for bringing the civil war to an end. thank Him also for delivering us from the scourge of military rule.

A Yoruba adage says: ''He who is able to think and reflect deeply will realize how much thanksgiving he has to make.'' Think and reflect on the various phases that Nigeria has been through and thank the Lord for bringing us thus far unscathed.

Confess the sins of our nation and ask the Lord to have mercy. Because if not for His mercy, who can stand. As a people and a nation, we have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Ask the Lord to remember mercy in judgment.

Pray and ask the Lord to grant our leaders wisdom and direction to lead this nation aright. That their decisions and actions at this time will be the right ones that will bring peace and progress to the nation.

Pray for peace within our walls and prosperity within our palaces. That our President, Mohammed Buhari will have the strength, wisdom, knowledge and understanding to address the issues facing the land.

Pray that He will receive wisdom to deal with the issues self-determination that are rearing up within the nation. That he will have the will to do the needful and bring about desired changes to the structure of the country.

Ask the Lord to raise up help in terms of good advisers. Pray that any counsel akin to that of Ahihtophel will be confounded and confused.
Pray for the economy and ask the Lord to bring fresh ideas to our leaders to be able to return the nation back to the path of prosperity.

Pray that the Lord will uphold us all during this period of recession and help us to survive and be at peace.

Finally, realizing that true peace will only come when the Prince of Peace returns to establish His rule, pray that the Prince of Peace will come and reign supreme in our land. That Jesus Christ be the Lord of our nation, that He will reign in our land and bring His His peace to cover the land as water covers the seas.

Pray for yourself and ask the Lord to provide for your needs, at this time, according to His riches in Christ Jesus. That during this period, he protect you and keep you at peace and that you and members of your family will neither suffer nor beg for bread.

Also pray for the countries of the world, where they are experiencing serious economic problems and the scourge of terrorism. Ask the Lord to intervene in their affairs and rescue them speedily.

Pray for your own country in the areas where you need God's intervention and ask Him to turn to your nation that He may save her and that He will have mercy on her.

Finally thank the Lord for answering your prayers.

The Lord bless and keep you. May He make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, now and forevermore. Amen.

Have a wonderful month of Grace.
